The part of the trip I’ve been most looking forward to was the week we would spend at the seaside, starting with a few days in Ao Nang, popular beach destination not too far from Krabi. We landed at the Krabi airport quite late in the evening and were picked up by the driver from the Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort. We were greeted with refreshing cold towels and water, much welcome after the flight and we definitely needed to rehydrate!
The Hotel
The resort is made of several buildings and our room was the Panorama building. The name says everything – all the rooms there had insane views of the Andaman Sea and the islands. Simply breathtaking! The room was top notch, with modern bathroom and minibar corner – the highlight were the welcome fresh fruits and the coffee machine! I must say that I found it strange that a window was separating the bathroom from the bedroom (not the first time I see this in a hotel), but it does give the room a certain flair. Another highlight was the bathtub in the balcony – perfect for a bubble bath with a glass of chilled rosé while watching the sunset!
The Amenities
After days of intense sightseeing in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, this was the beginning of a relaxing week at the Thai seaside. And it’s not difficult to relax when you’ve got an infinity pool with a view! I tanned bit during my days there and I’m glad I caught some colour! Make sure to enjoy the pool with a fresh coconut!
I was also lucky to try the spa – a very welcome Thai massage (that released the tension gathered in my muscles through all the desk hours) and a refreshing tea afterwards. I was as good as new and back at the pool.
Have I already mentioned the view from the bar on the top? Everybody was saying that you simply must catch the sunset there and they were not wrong! It’s truly magical.
The Food
On our first evening there we were starving after the flight – so we went for the all you can eat barbecue buffet. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of food, from fish to steaks, sushi and Thai food, to Thai sweets and fresh fruits! I can for sure say that I stuffed my face and tried out all the foods, accompanied by fresh coconut juice, of course.
The breakfast buffet is equally delicious and varied! There’s both Thai and Western choices, as well as an egg & bacon station and a Thai soup station. During my stay, I got to try almost everything and especially loved the hot pork buns and the Thai soup!
I enjoyed my brief stay in Ao Nang, as we had access to restaurants, 7-Eleven and the beach was not that far away either! If I had more time on my hands, I would have definitely done way more sightseeing around Krabi. But that means we would definitely have to come back!
