It’s been almost 19 months since the whole wold went into the first lockdown, and since then the world has never been the same. Our lives where radically changed and part of that is our self care and traveling habits. With many countries having kept their borders closed, travelling for fun hasn’t been easy.
With many of us working from home and generally living in a stressful environment, our self care hasn’t been a priority. I have personally struggled with this – for me, travelling was a big part of self-care. It was a disconnect from my daily routine, it was exploring new places, foods, cultures, and enjoying good weather.
When AXIS-Y reached out to me to work together, their concept of climate-inspired personalised care caught my eye and intrigued me. And one of their products that I wanted to test and review was their staycation set.
A great companion for those weekends at home when you want to disconnect and relax. But also provide some extra care for the skin on your face, especially as we have been wearing masks on a daily basis for so long now. I have been using only AXIS-Y products for my skincare routine for the past 15 days – except sunscreen and eye cream. And every Sunday morning, I did the staycation routine.

About AXIS-Y
The focus of AXIS-Y is on the effects of the environment on the skin – the growing pollution, stressful factor and climate change. Together with travelling from one corner of the world to another, there are unique skin concerns that arise from going from one climate to the other and the need for personalised skincare. They are the first creators of climate-inspire skincare!
They are committed to their values of natural-derived skin-loving ingredients, safety, no animal testing, vegan-certified and effective formulas. I could immediately see their care for the environment by the packaging. So many companies use bubble wrap or packing peanuts and it breaks my heart a bit to see so much plastic. But AXIS-Y uses a special type of wrapping made of paper, a great eco-friendly alternative to bubble wrap. Their values and the feeling their products give is reflected in the cardboard packaging of each product also. The background of off-white with a tint of green, has accents of darker green (for the ingredients’ illustrations) and red (for the trademarked ‘6+1+1 Advanced Formula’). Not only that but also the containers of the products with green bottle, label that matches the box, and white caps. I highly enjoy using products that are soothing for the eyes and a pleasure to use, even before actually opening and using them.

AXIS-Y Staycation Set
The AXIS-Y Staycation Set consists of a mask trio perfect for a spa day or a self care moment at home. It will deeply cleanse, soothe, energise and hydrate your skin. These are the stars of the set that will give you glowing skin:
- Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack
- New Skin Resolution Gel Mask
- 61% Mugwort Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask (5 pcs)
Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack
I have tried mugwort masks before and I love how fresh it smells and how soothing it feels on the skin. This Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack is easy to apply with the hands or a spatula (there is a small one provided). Apply an even layer on clean dry face, avoiding the eye and mouth area. I took my time applying it on my face, I find this process extremely satisfying and therapeutic. Let it try for around 15 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Already after 7 minutes, you will feel the mask slowly get tighter, similarly to a regular mud mask. After 15 minutes, I rinsed it off with water, gently massaging it all over my face. I use this mask once a week for a deep cleaning.
This mask has 61% Mugwort extract as the core ingredient, together with adzuki beans, lotus, kelp, artichoke, mung bean and heartless and the 6 base ingredients. Other pore clarifying masks are quite harsh and leave your face feeling dry and tight – but in this case, it felt fresh and bouncy. This wash off mask cleaned the clogged pores, exfoliated the dead skin cells, and calmed the irritation on my skin, leaving it clean and radiant.

New Skin Resolution Gel Mask
After rinsing off the wash off mask, you are now ready to apply the New Skin Resolution Gel Mask, the same way – with your fingers or with the provided spatula, in an even layer bit avoiding the sea around the eyes and the mouth. This is such a refreshing mask and to me, it smells like tea and it’s super relaxing. I wonder if I could keep it in the fridge for extra freshness? Similarly to the wash off mask, this gel mask can be left on for around 15 minutes and then rinsed off with lukewarm water.
The core ingredient in the AXIS-Y New Skin Resolution Gel Mask is Niacinamide (2%), which is known to improve uneven skin tone, dullness and weakened skin barrier. Together with the 6 base ingredients (heartless, fig, Centella Asiatica, allantoin, mugwort, yam root), this mask calms, brightens and alleviates irritated and sensitive skin. I use this mask 2-3 times a week – once together with the wash off mask as part of the staycation set routine, and a few times in my usual skincare routine, after toner and before the serum.

61% Mugwort Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask
If you know me, you know that I am absolutely obsessed and have been trying sheet masks for year now. So far, I have only tried wash off masks with mugwort, but having a sheet mask with mugwort feels so good on the skin! Just like the Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack, this sheet mask also has 61% Mugwort extract as the core ingredient, and Centella Asiatica, peony root, cabbage, okra, spinach and broccoli as the 6 base ingredients. The aim is to hydrate, calm and soother sensitive and damaged skin.
The 61% Mugwort Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask is very thin, silky, and easily sticks to the face. It also is very soaked in essence – there are 27ml in each pack! When a sheet mask is thin and has lots of essence in the pouch, then you’ve got a winner. After rinsing off the New Skin Resolution Mask, I applied the sheet mask on the face. I used some of the leftover essence for the neck (don’t forget about the neck!). After 20 minutes, I remove the mask and gently massage the rest into the skin, either with my fingers or a roller. In the next days, I have been using this essence after the toner and before the serum as part of my daily skincare routine, morning and evening.
